Know What Goes into Your Skin Care Products by Creating Them Yourself

I get asked all the time what type of skin regiment I would recommend for women to use to keep their face looking vibrant and toned. The first thing I would suggest is stop buying facial care at the store. Many of the facial care items that are on the market are filled with chemicals that can cause more harm than good. Below are a few tried and true skin care recipes that women can use to keep their face looking great and save money on their beauty routine at the same time.

Gently Exfoliate Your Skin

Exfoliating your skin on a regular basis is important. It can help to prevent dry patches from occurring, reduce the number of breakouts you experience and smooth the texture of your skin. Create a great at-home exfoliator by mixing two TBLs of baking soda in a jar with a few drops of pure lavender oil. Remove one TSP of the mixture at a time and mix it with a few TSPs of water to create a paste to rub all over your face.

Once the paste is in place, leave it for a few minutes and then rinse it off. Your face will appear smoother, while the baking soda and lavender draw toxins from your skin.

Hydrate the Delicate Skin Around Your Eyes

Want to look younger? Keep the skin around your eyes hydrated to reduce visible wrinkles without any surgery or medical treatments. Mix half a cup of green tea, 2 tsp of sweet almond oil, 2 tsp of Vitamin E, 2 tsp of emulsifying wax, and five drops of lavender essential oil in a small saucepan. Turn the stove on low heat and slowly melt the ingredients together. Once emulsified, place the mixture into a glass container with a lid.

Allow the mixture to cool and harden and then rub small amounts of the lotion around your eyes every morning and before bed to keep your skin moisturized and decrease wrinkles.

Keep Your Lips Supple

Dehydration can make your lips seem small and make them crack. Drinking plenty of water is important, but you can also create your own lip balm to put on your lips to hydrate them.

Mix 1 TBL of cosmetic-grade beeswax, 1 TBL of coconut oil, seven drops of lavender oil, and ½ TBL of sweet almond oil together in a saucepan over medium heat until they melt together. Place in small tins and allow them to cool. Rub the balm on your lips multiple times per day to keep them hydrated, smooth and supple.

Taking care of your face with as natural of ingredients as possible is important. Creating these homemade facial care items ensures you always know what you are putting on your face and what is being absorbed into your skin.
