Alternatively, soak a clean washcloth in water. Then add several drops of chamomile to the cloth. Gently rub the swollen areas of your body with the cloth two to three times a day until the swelling reduces.

#2 Juniper Oil

Juniper is another one of the essential oils for water retention that can help treat swollen limbs.

Juniper oil has highly diuretic and anti-inflammatory properties that will help a lot when treating symptoms of Edema.

To use Juniper oil, mix four to five drops into a carrier oil of your choice and gently massage into the swollen areas of the body.

You can also add 10 to 15 drops of Juniper directly into lukewarm water and let your feet and ankles soak for 15 minutes several times per day.

Just be careful to not use too much Juniper. It can irritate the skin if overused.

#3 Geranium Oil

This is yet another powerful remedy for swollen limbs due to water retention. It’s highly diuretic and has anti-inflammatory properties that work to eliminate the build-up of fluids in the body.

Similarly to the other oils on this list, dilute your Geranium oil with your chosen carrier oil and massage it into the swollen areas.

You can also add six to 10 drops directly into a warm bathtub and let the water soak into your body.

Both methods will greatly assist in reducing the swelling.

#4 Fennel Oil

Fennel is a lesser-known treatment for water retention than the other ones mentioned. However, it can be just as effective. It too has diuretic and anti-inflammatory properties that make it a great option for Edema.

Use it alone with a carrier oil to massage into the affected areas. Or combine it with Cypress oil and a carrier oil for additional relief.
