A Skin Care Regimen For Youthful Glowing Skin


Would you like your skin to have a bright youthful glow? Do you want to feel good about your skin and put your best face forward? Then read on! There are a number of elements that are important to a successful skin care regimen.

A basic facial cleansing routine involves the following steps. First, a daily exfoliating facial cleanser is important. One which gently exfoliates the surface of the skin is crucial to sloughing off dead skin cells. This is necessary so that the new and brighter skin can shine. Don't pick one that is too harsh though, it should be gentle enough to use daily and not irritate the skin.

Next use an alcohol-free toner. The toner will remove any remaining dirt and make the skin feel fresh and clean. Avoid alcohol in the toner as it is drying. Look for a toner with witch hazel. An effective toner will make your face feel tingly and fresh but not irritated. Next, use an anti-aging serum. A light serum will smooth and brighten the skin and defy wrinkles.

Finally, finish off with a light daytime moisturizer containing sun protection. This process should be done twice a day, in the morning when you wake up and at night before you go to sleep. At night, substitute the daytime moisturizer for a nighttime moisturizer without sunscreen.

Note that the moisturizers should be for the face specifically. If you are subject to breakouts, choose an oil-free moisturizer and always have some sort of drying lotion on hand. Salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide are effective in treating blemishes.

For individual issues, there are steps that can be added to the basic routine. If you are troubled by under eye puffiness and dark circles, an eye cream can be used morning and night. Gently dab the cream around the orbital bone underneath the eye. Cucumber eye patches can be kept in the freezer and can be put on the eye for about 15 minutes each morning for those who awake with puffy eyes.

Face masks can be wonderful and used regularly. There are mud masks, avocado masks, brightening masks, clarifying or anti blemish masks to choose from. A face mask can be applied at night while you are relaxing, and can be used weekly, monthly or every other day depending on the mask.

A daily dose of sunshine and fresh air is important to feel good but in order to keep your skin wrinkle free and to prevent sun damage wear sunscreen daily. A deep cleansing facial sporadically can also be a great idea. You can do this once a month, once per change of season or on a timeline that you feel personally works best.

In a deep cleansing facial, a trained cosmetician will steam your face and extract blackheads and whiteheads followed by a stimulating massage and a mask that is suited for your skin type.
